Phosphate (PO4) build up in the tank appears to be a fairly common problem in aquariums. They are present in most tap water supplies, they are also introduced to aquarium water through fish waste, uneaten fish food and decaying plant material. Hobbyist end up with rising levels of PO4, leading to the appearance of algae that start to cover the tank panes, the driftwoods, the substrate and just about anything else in the tank. Elos Filtra P binds large quantities of phosphate, and it is completely safe, unlike some competing products adsorbants wich may leach phosphates back to the aquarium, or may simply precipitate driving more phosphate onto the gravel and stones.

Using ELOS Filtra P, phosphate levels in a fresh water aquarium can be maintained very close to zero.

Important tip: many types of fish food contains various inorganic phosphate salts intentionally added to them as preservatives. The use of our fish food line can be higly beneficial in order to avoid the accumulation of unwanted PO4.

Note: We suggest not to reduce phosphate levels too low in planted aquarium. Phosphorus is one of the main three macro nutrients (nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium: NPK) required by plants and can often become the limiting factor to growth in a planted aquarium.
It is then important to keep Phosphate level well controlled using an high quality test kit like our Aqua Test PO4.
